 Zealectronic Label Profile
Somewhere halfway in the year 2000 Belgium's Zeal Records started with their Zealectronic sublabel. While Zeal is aimed at releasing post-rock and alternative indie music, Zealectronic is focused on electronica and ambient.
The well-defined goal of the label is to give every artist the opportunity to present their own unique style by putting two representative tracks on a limited color 7" with special packaging.

So far there have been five issues in the "Color"-series. (meaning the catalog number is replaced by a color) All very different, all situated in the homelistening electronic music genre, all high quality.

Here's a short overview:
Lilienthal
- Brooklyn
- MT.Tama
Zealectronic pink

Stuttering beats, melancholic melodies, ambient atmosphere, ...
Excellent IDM.
Lusine ICL
- Rush Hour
- Dovetail
Zealectronic blue

Their recognizable rhytmic chaos demands some time to get into, but once you do, it's very rewarding. Beat architecturing with surgical precision without forgetting the need for some background lingering melodies.
Sybarite
- Engaged
- Without Nothing I'm You
Zealectronic orange

Undoubtably the best release up till now. Proving the line between post-rock and electronics can ben very thin. Pretty organic sound, I can't think of anything else then calling it acoustic electronic music (!?).
Languis
- If we ever make it back
- If we never make it back
Zealectronic bordeaux
Nice modern chill-out with an old-skool ambient atmosphere.
Perfect for a soothing late-nite listen.
Lackluster
- 27/11/99
- 19/10/00
Zealectronic purple

Has been doing some great things lately, including his productions for deFocus and Monotonik. Very mellow electronics.
There are plans to release at least three more 7" this year and beyond. Including tracks by Electric Birds, E*Vax, B.Fleishman, ... There has also been an anouncement for the new "Sweets"-series (meaning the catalog number will be replaced by the name for a kind of candy), with more playfull tracks. More info can be found at the label's website.
