Mettle Music
Honeycomb Lounge
Toko Records - CD/2x12"
Especially the first half of this album is quite enjoyable, the music breathes a warm and fuzzy atmosphere where nu-jazz and deep-house meet. You know, like a cozy café can combine the excitement of a club and the comfort of your living room. It's a rich and lush sound, thanks to the remarkable production standards, with the climax being the super funky broken-beat cut "The Lowdown". Exotic flutes, throbbing bass, funky guitar, groovy sax and whatnot are pulled out of the closet for a great experience.

From that point on the tempo shifts from laidback to pumpin'. Therefore the remaining tracks are somewhat of an anti-climax as they seem unable to climb above the level of average deep-house.
In it's entirety, however, it's a coherent album and a solid representation of a night out where most melodic tracks are spun as warm-up and after that the uptempo tracks have to make sure the crowd keeps on dancin'.
