![]() Jhelisa Language Electric Dorado - CD |
Ever since I fell in love with the
"Sweet Dreams (4UIC)" song from "Galactica Rush",
I realized I had discovered a highly talented female
vocalist/composer. The basis of her music is thoroughly rooted in
acid-jazz, but the wealth lies in the influences with other genres. A
mélange of different elements from Pop, Jazz, R&B, Soul, Rare
Groove and Ethnic music have been used, predominantly downtempo with a
few sidesteps.
Unlike most acid-jazz, this album has a fairly somber and depressing mood, specially when you start paying attention to the actual lyrics. With criticism on social and cultural themes being the main topics that isn't actually inciting any positive feelings. Yet "Language Electric" is a moving and deeply emotional work, intended for intimate listening. All that and the impeccable production for instruments and vocals make this an album worth having.
