 Rockin' Pony Tibet 01 / Lullaby FUN 001 Promo 7" |
Rockin' Pony was founded by Michael Drumz and Alexander (Sasha) Rozet. The project was originally from Israel, but is now based both in the UK and Israel. They create an unusual combination of live percussion and electronics, described by themself as "Easy listening IDM with jazz elements and classical influences". Apart from one track that appeared on a compilation last year, this is their first self-released record. Side A is a polyrhythmic uptempo workout while side B delivers a dreamy ambient bedtime-story. Some structural elements kind of remind me of earlier works from µ-ziq, namely the harsh rhythms, tempo changes and touching melodies. I think it's a fine release with creative music, hopefully we'll hear more Rockin' Pony in the future! For those interested to get more information, you can visit the Rockin' Pony website.
