Xaver Fischer Trio
II
1xCD Unique Records
It's always extremely nice to see the synergy our website is causing between people always on the look for fresh sounds. This time, I am more than happy to present an album I was recommended myself by a deejay from Slovakia who visited our FreestyleGrooves site and recommended me this album. When you say trio, it's quite evident that this is a three man band consisting of Xaver Fischer on keyboards, Hannes Vesper on bass and Eric Harings on drums. And being a trio, they made an awesome good album.
What's so excellent about this album is on one side the consistency of warm jazzy sounds and on the other side the variety of the tracks itself. With this concept, the album "II" takes us on an exceptional trip and tells us a magnificent story of nices vibes and sounds during 10 tracks. That this is a superb story is immediately clear with the opening killer track "Insight", good for over 7 minutes of tastefull well balanced melodic and atmospheric synth - acid jazz vibes. Yes, the next track "Mr Rose" is great but Xaver Fischer takes us to even more shining pearls with Heaven, introducing the delicate magnificent voice of Angela Caran. While, "1984" and "Strangers in St. Petersburg" are both nice pieces of what I'll introduce here as "nu acid jazz", it's "Rübezahl" that is again such a real goose bump experience track. Going straight to your heart, soul and mind with tranquil jazzy vibes. And if that was not enough, there is Angela again with "Follow me" and rest assured that you would certainly like to take her lyric literal ! Then, "Streets of no-town" is a somewhat more hilarious track and "C64" can certainly bring the smile on our face hearing how the trio embeds a simple early computer melody line into their warm jazzy acoustic layer after which it's time to go home with "The way home" for an almost 2 minute synth outro.
Ok, if you haven't guessed by now that Xaver Fischer Trio brings a real killer album, you must belong to the category of constipated nerds. Yes, to repeat it, this is an essential album, ranked among the best we've heard so far this year. Highly Freestyle approved and recommended.
