I know, It's maybe my French origins but here's one more review from French artist on a French label, why not if the music is okey! I finaly decided to write a review about this older Pépé Bradock because I had forgotten about this ... sometimes you have so many records you forget you have some items. I remembered it because I bought a new record of Pépé Bradock not so long ago: Deep Burning. I will start with the oldest one: Un Pepe en Or Vol.1 well actually at this time this record is essential stuff from the French deep-house scene. The cover is very cool, it shows some Indian guy with a lot of women's clothing, fun :) Let's talk about the music now: A.Side The first track: 100% Cotton is like a sort of intro, some kind of electronic loungy indian stuff. Quiet funny, but not that good :) 'No one can ....' with a tiny voice :) The second track is more serious stuff, this is the best track on the record 'Carats' is the title. It's very deep-happy-french stuff, with a cool voice talking about melodies etc... . I love this track, it's got very happy sounds. yeah cool stuff! The third is also very good it's Jazzy with cool samples.. very Jazzy, this track is more the style like StGermain's first album! B.Side I don't like these two tracks, uninspired tracks. The record is nice because of the 3 tracks on the A-side, they are 100% okey. That's it! Deep bruning: Great record! I know it's not very original in the sence it's not innovating but it's a very good house maxi! When we were in Swiss the night we played in the Mokka garden, Titonton Divante en TJ from the Residual label (US) played there to. Titonton played this track and he mixed the track like neverbody else had done before!! By the way, respect to the Residual guys, check out their releases, they've already released Boo Williams, Titonton, Dan curtin etc... I'll try to get to the point now :) a.Side: The first track on the Ep: is typical vocal disco stuff. It's okey but not my style! The second track: older stuff with breakbeats in it. b.Side: That's the killer track!! Burnt!! You have to listen to this track, it's not hard, more like spacy dance floor house! I recommend this track!! A floor-filling track!! Yeah!! cool! Greets, Howard (31/08/2000) |
