It's good. Real good.
I'll say 9/10. You
definately want it for your collection. Its not house of 909, nor
older loveys work. not dancefloor (well, my living room yes) it's
quite original and very diverse -fast spots and slow spots- deep house
and airy fluffy stuff too. More jazzy than expected. hip hop/ r&b
influences too. I'm getting vaugue.
You'll love the first track: 'forever after'- thumpin' bassline/
deep rhodes/flanged guitar/ high strings/ tight transitions- all
the sheot we like.
Second track- jazzy horns way up there with perfect
vocal samples and a GU-ish live bassline which makes a departure at the end
of the track which is inexplicably timed - super head stuff.
Third track- roy ayers vocal sample 'baby... look to
the sky'- very nice (I just changed my 8/10 to 9/10 above while I'm flippin
through this for you). nuff said.
Fourth track- slows way down, r&b/ hip hop beat,
contemp jazz male vocal duet with house female. first time I heard it
I thought
it was a little cheesy, but then I fell in love with the female vocal-
played it for my girlfriend and she loved it and we got it on.
Fifth track- slow, atmospheric, nice flanged guitar, introspective vocal.
Sithx track- even slower. really deep. just a short
interlude.
Seventh (gettin lazy now- and I'm workin) picks it way
back up- house of 909 thick. tonnes of strings to chew on. trippy floating
morning music. live piano solos.
TRACK EIGHT IS MOVIN: 'GOT TO GO THERE'. this is
my favorite song right now. its original, simple keyboard, perfect vocal
sample, super deep bass- I would freak out if I heard this on the dance floor- but
that's just me. driving. head boopin. goosebumps- all that. this one
track is worth whatever it takes to get your hands on the album.
9 building, steady beat, even a HARMONICA!
10 another vocal, but light. airy. mature. slower.
think beedle meets the lee bros.
11 title track. 16B influence for sure. steady high
hats. old school 'play that beat' vocal sample.
12 smakin' bass, long breaks, jazzy guitar.
13 'depth charge'. (whew- I was flyin through this
album) a nice departure. watch that sunset kinda stuff. perfect ending to a
great album
