Streetlife Originals
Sidewalk Stories
1xCD 2xLP Paper
It's all about eclecticism nowadays ... musicians and producers don't just stick to one style and mix up all thinkable genres of music to create a richer and more varied sound.
This LP from Streetlife Originals is a perfect example: every track explores another style and in every track there are influences from other styles. Yet, they do manage to keep up some sort of consistent atmosphere troughout the whole album. You could consider it as a storyline from a book or a movie, some scenes contain lots of action others are thrilling or creepy or just plain calm, but the overall style of the story stays the same. If you pay some attention to the track titles and the appearance of dialogues and monologues in some tracks, it might just be what the producers of "Sidewalk Stories" had in mind.
Before it all gets too confusing, let's describe a few of the best tracks:

- Friday at Ronnies : Conga rhythms, live atmosphere, relaxing key melodies
- Lara's Theme : driving vocal-house on the uptempo-acid-jazz tip
- Music for Pleasure : cheasy-listening music, gentle rhythms
- Electreprise : downtempo breaks with some old-skool electro influences
- Le Conspiration : starts off with acoustic guitar and a monologue. downbeat rhythm, jazzy melodies and some synths come in and make this a fantastic track!
- The Assasin, act 2 : perfect "Café del Mar" track, dreamy stuff
- Stereo Musicale : hard to describe; guitar, organ and strings make up for a mid-tempo track
- Visions of Mars : ultra deep'n jazzy house, swingin' rhythms with heavenly vibes and very atmospheric trumpet
- A Sidewalk Story : future jazz with french voice scats and those heavenly vibes are still there

A truly original album, with an overall jazzy atmosphere and there are many more surprises to be found in the tracks not mentioned here ... enjoy it!
