![]() V.A. Cafe Del Mar volumen seis 1x CD Manifesto |
Holidays are over and the shops are getting filled again with interesting stuff
and as a yearly tradition, Cafe Del Mar is back too giving us the latest selections
of José Padilla. First of all, we'd like to tell this will be the very last
Cafe Del Mar compilation as José Padilla announced he'll be doing just other projects
in the future, so while you can, grab yourself this latest compilation. Volumen seis
marks the end of this very interesting series of warm and sunny progressive laidback
music. Now, I suppose you all want to read what volumen seis has to offer, right ? With volumen seis, it is as if José Padilla is going back to the very roots of the Cafe Del Mar compilations. He explored in the volumen quatro and volumen cinco more and more into the direction of poppy sounds and world music, but now he is deep into pure jazzed-out laidback music. Here are a few warmly recommended tracks: -Talvin Sigh : Traveller : warm laidback music with nice violin orchestrated sound -A new funky generation : The messenger : acid jazz a la carte with delicate vocals and wicked guitar riffs -dZihan & Kamien : relaxing deep bass and moody sax set the atmosphere right -Endorphin : Satie 1 : variation on breakbeats, melodic pianos and sparse atmospheric chants -Moonrock : I'll street blues : More chilling acid jazz -Dusty Springfield : The look of love : Heck, what is this track of '67 doing here ? Unfortunately, this is Dusty before the Dusty we knew, if you know what I mean. And here closes the Cafe Del Mar episode. We can look back on 6 fruitfull years of nice selections by José Padilla. An essential series for home chilling ends. Thanks to José Padilla for sharing the real Cafe Del Mar spirit. ez aug/99 |
