Freestyle review: The Persuader : Stockholm

The Persuader Stockholm 2x12" SVEK 032		With his newest release on SVEK records, The Persuader takes us on a sightseeing-trip through the capitol of Sweden. Welcome aboard "The Stockholm City Tours" bus. The first stop, "Östermalm", immediately sets the right atmosphere. The mid-tempo beats and spacey melodies catch our attention, of course, and we want more, "Vasastaden" is a variation on the same theme and adds some dreamy analog synths. Once we have arrived at "Kungsholmen" we can take a short break to enjoy a drink and a small snack, the tempo slows down with a typical "deep-house record b-side" laidback track. Very acoustic sounding breakbeats and the inevitable vibraphonic sounds are being served. Now we're in perfect condition to commence a ride through "Södermalm", the rhythm is pushed up to Herbert-tempo and the phat bass-guitar also reminds us of a certain Matt Herbert. We enjoy the breathtaking view for a while and then it's time to freak out! "Normalm" completely changes course and surprises us with a wild mix of uptempo beats, distorted percussion and psychedelic synths. This sounds a lot like the early stuff from µ-ziq, but without the piquant dressing. We conclude this trip in the old-city part of Stockholm: "Gamla Stan". Here we have the time to relish the rhythm of an infectious groove with 70s synths on top before we leave the fascinating city where this music was recorded. We hope you enjoyed your visit.
