How to get around in Paris

When the freestyle team connects to Paris once again, we walk the thin line between alternative tourism and downright hunger for records. Read our survival guide to this fantastic city and learn the tricks from the pros...

1. How to survive traffic:

Put the pedal to the metal, force people to brake for you, run the red lights, use the sidewalk, try to drive the roundabout in the other direction (hey, if you keep driving the same way, you'll get dizzy!)...that's what people keep telling you.

In fact there is only one way to survive Paris traffic: tune in to Radio Nova, 101.5 FM and enjoy the vibes. Hah...that's all it takes.

2. How to act like a tourist:

Hang around monuments. Do not miss out on the Eiffel tower or the Arc De Triomphe. Speak Japanese. Look confused. Don't survive traffic. Most important: do not spend any money on it, there are more interesting things to spend your money on in Paris.

3. How to shop in Paris:

Get to "Place de la Concorde", get lost in all the surrounding streets, enjoy the many records stores you'll find. Try TechnoImport and get lost in the tons of records that are stacked there. Try Vibestation and solve the problem you had in TechnoImport: not much records but that's okay since you can't listen to much of them anyways...

Try some freaky ambient and chill stores like Wave (rare and obscure import only) and Bimbo Tower (with the funniest japanese toys you've ever seen) and money will lose any relevance to you when plunging into different space-time universes.

And wait till midnight and check out the huge backstock at the Fnac on the Champs-Elysees. If you're putting on records in the Queens and need the latest Boo Williams release quick, just put on a long record and hurry to the deephouse section...

As you can see, there are many different ways to spend your money in the City of Light.

4. How to chill in Paris:

Champs-Elysees. Nightfall. Many people. One motto. Relax.

5. How to find rare GU records in Paris:

Well, that's a hard one. We teamed up with a Freestyle connection for this one. Meet Léandre, a French dj with rather the same state of mind as any of us: Me. Want. GU. He's gotta have them all. A true GU-fan, native inhabitant and labeled Freestyle-fresh.

6. How to get stoned in Paris:

We'll leave this one undocumented.

Hope you enjoyed our trip...eh, walk through the capital of France and before I run out of synonyms for 'Paris', I'll leave the rest of it to be explored by you!
