Strictly old-skool grooves for the previously dismayed connoisseur...
1. Lonnie Smith : finger lickin' good : 1964
Ah, one of the, if not the most superb latin groove album of all times, not only thanks to the monster track 'Sideman' with its great congas and tasty bass, but mostly by the fact that this man just got the groove. Yeah, Lonnie.
2. Kool & The Gang : spirit of the boogie : 1974
Featuring the fantastic jazz-funk version of their hit single 'Jungle Boogie', aptly called 'Jungle Jazz', this album is getting kinda rare. Grab it if you see it!
3. One Way feat. Al Hudson : one way : 1979
There's only one way, and it's the one Al Hudson is cruising....
4. John Klemmer : brazilia : 1979
Chilly jazz by Klemmer with one exception to the loungy atmoshpere: the title track which is a nine minute long funky masterpiece with a superb intro. Always good to have a good intro when drawing attention to a great song!
5. Herbie Hancock : future shock : 1983
Just to get myself a piece of techno and house history: in between kraftwerk and model 500 it really got rollin' with the track "rockit" by the innovator of all innovators...Herbie "Herb" Hancock!
