| 1. Jimpster
: perennial pleasures : Kudos A rare jazzfunk gem from this magical man. Deleted, out of stock, never heard of,... every shopkeeper had an excuse until I dived into Soho (London). Thank God it's Jimpster. Deep bass and sprinklin' tunes...Jimpster is truly the GU of laidback stuff. 2. Idjut Boys : Saturday Nite Live : Nuphonic The quality of this compilation, thought up by the notorious Idjut Boys, reminds me of the celebration of superb grooves brought together by Dimitri From Paris on his 1997 MixMag compilation. Featuring the Latin sex bomb 'supersweet' by Pablo, the 1979 funk attack 'Safari' by Modern Sound Corporation, the outrageously deep 'sweat shop' by Syrup and the chilly beats of Isolée 'beau mot plage', honest and decent work, guyz. 3. Unforscene : tall girl (Jimpster remix) : Kudos I guess you're getting tired of the praising of Jimpster on our site, so I won't bother you no more. Just remember this remix blends the jazz qualities of Unforscene with the feeling for funkiness of our man Jimpster. 4. Back 2 Earth : motor launch for hire : Laws of Motion Don't know but I thought the Laws of Motion compilation wasn't that great after all, only the Modaji and Back 2 Earth tracks were capable of attracting my interest. The 'Fin De Camin EP' gives you therefore more for your money's worth. The selected track adds some really neat congas for a Southern touch. 5. Tiny Trendis : the sky is not crying (swag the sky is not falling remix) : Nuphonic SWAG remixes are getting my fullest attention since the slammin' swag dub of groove collective's 'everything is changing'. This one's isn't as mindblowing but nice and deep nonetheless. |

| 1. The Jones Girls
: ights over egypt : Philly Int. This superb Dexter Wansel production is an undisputed jazz-funk classic. With megatastic moogs, superslick bass and heavenly vocals, um..uhm...feels great. 2. The Whatnauts : help is on the way (extended vocal) : Harlem International Another rooftop classic. De La Soul recycled it into on of their chart busters, I don't blame them because at least they knew where to sample from. 3. Herb Alpert : streetlife : A&M There are several cool cuts on Herb's 'Rise' album from 1979, but the white man's feeling for black music shows best in his raw version of the Crusaders classic. |
