Very nice 8-track EP in a typical melodic electronica vein

Jazzed-up Lounge cut with melancholic female vox and slight drum 'n bass appeal

contemporary grooves
1. Audiomontage : what you gonna do? : freerange
Jimpster, jimpster, jimpster. Get anything the guy ever made from his great albums on kudos and freerange (his own label) to his self-made electrical skateboard engine (pat. pending).
2. Modaji : one and the same : Laws of Motion
Always an artist to check out, this great funky/moody track includes smooth bass licks and spacy moog elements together with a warm voice. Lets you gently slip into funky oblivion.
3. Elegy : kaleidoscope : obsession
One of the more recent tracks on the great 'soul of science' compilation by kirk degorgio, one of the compilers. Was made using a very special multi-layered synth technique but I'm just saying that to pretend I know something about second-hand synths and their various applications. Results in a very ninetees high-quality ambient trip nonetheless.
4. Solid Doctor : holly roller : pork
Old-skool Pork material. Outright great.
5. Flanger : midnight sound : n-tone
Fuzes lounge jazz with electronica. Clearly an evolution since his two nu-electronica ep's. More sofa-minded but maybe less refreshing.
old-skool raregrooves
1. Players Association : love hangover : Vanguard
Superb space disco with a very moody intro, then hits hard with heavy bass licks. A real sleaz-killer.
2. George Duke : 'north beach' : Obession
One of the seventies experimental tracks on 'soul of science'. Well-overthought and fascinating, this shows George Duke is a seventies artist to reckon with.
3. Fatback : brite lites, big city : Spring
What can I say, a Fatback is a Fatback is a Fatback. Damn right.

Vinyl fresh from the shops
The deep section is only a top 6 this month ,cause i bought lots more old than new stuff this month. (result : a larger "funky flashback" to compensate! )
1) K. Hand : Clap Yo Hands EP / Loveslap!
5th Release on the fresh Us Loveslap! label ,each Loveslap! release has a love side (deephouse) and a slap side (more uptempo house). On the love side of this ep there's a beautiful deep track called "low key" with great deep strings and subtle percussion ,just perfect for those early morning dancefloor moments.
2) Hanna : Sunday / Paper
A funky groove, melodic keys and light vocodered vocals...all the ingredients for a nice deep track like this ,the "morning breeze and coffee mix" (what's in a name ?) is even better featuring even deeper funkier grooves and lesser vocals.
3) A.D.N.Y. & Vincenzo : Concrete City / Dessous
1st release on this label ,the A side contains a very funky driving tho slightly deep track ,the B side has the killer deep stuff ,"soulmates" is a very relaxed smooth soulful track and "vibes" is kind of a looping deep track with small vocals, not really that good but could be usefull as a mixtrack. Also check out "nu tone dancer" on the same label!
4) Charles Spencer feat. Yshara : A Better Way / Loveslap!
Great vocal deep stuff ,the Ra Soul remix on the love side is fantastic, soulful yet spacy !
5) Tiko : Lavette's Groove EP / Basenotic (bno)
Funky French with a disco touch (or do call it "ze French touch" for all i care :) )
6) i:cube : Ding Ding Ding / Versatile
The best track is "metamorphik" which has a bit of everything in iy :spacy sounds, funky groove loops, melodic keys and it also has a deep hypnotizing feel to it.

Funky Flashback
Candido : Dancin' & Prancin' / Salsoul (1979)
Incredible EP! the track Jingo can easily be mixed in a house set of today and stand out of it too !...really fresh and ahead of it's time then there's also the loft classic "thousand finger man" a funky fresh track with a mellow deep feel to it ...just can't get enough of it,heavenly !
Isaac Hayes : New Horizon / Polydor (1977)
Isaac at his best ,the best track on this album must be "Mènage a trois" a 10 minutes long funky laidback workout ,sexy as hell and mixed by one of the best remixers ever, Tom Moulton.
Tip of the week : invite 2 girls over to your place put this track on and let it's magic do the rest. :))
MFSB : Summertime / Philadelphia International (1976)
If you're feeling down just put this album on and let your blues fade away ,this album is completely produced by the masters of the philly soul sound K.Gamble & L.Huff ...great stuff !
