em:t (2003 Compilation)
It is not frequently happening that a record label gains a cult-status within a musical scene or movement. Without a doubt that honour was due for the Em:t label that was getting attention for its special music output as well as its eye catching album covers in the mid-nineties. Em:t provided us with the nec plus ultra of creative and sometimes experimental ambient music packaged in cd covers with pictures of nature. Even after the Em:t label ceased to exist in the late nineties, it's cult status was prolonged by the music enthousiasts that were lucky enough to have bought the albums when released and share it with other people on chill sessions everywhere on this planet and through the website.
It was of course a very big surprise that almost 5 years after the Em:t label ceased to exist, we heard the news about its relaunch. After all the hard work for this relaunch, it is now a fact with a first Em:it 0003 compilation that is about to be released. This first compilation of the relaunched label contains several former Em:t artists as well as new artists.

Down to the facts now with the question that is without a doubt on everybody's lipps right now: does the new compilation lives up to the expectations raised with this highly acclaimed label ? Well, the overall sound of the compilation walks the line between soft electronica and ambient. Do not expect difficult to the ear experiments or hard tracks.
On this compilation you'll find gems to chill-away like "High Skies" (aka Gas) with "Red Green Blue". Clearly one of the nicest highly emotive tracks. Simply incredible how evocative the delicate use of the spacey sounds can be with "Red Green Blue". Play it and dream far away. Or listen to Brannan Lane's "Desert sunrise" for a more organic dubby but nevertheless highly effective ambient sound. What about travelling intergallactic in your personal spaceship ? You can do it with Chushen & Cugin's "The sutra". This tracks simple asks for your attention with weird high tones, spacey bleeps and effects and a funny but oh so nice beat pattern. Reminding a bit of the style of Jonah Sharp on FAX is Richie Warburton with "00". It is the kind of ambient where you feel there is electricty in the air and a sort of Kraftwerk icecold funkiness. Can you already feel the razor sharp icey synth lines woven on top of electroid drums ?
And there is more to discover on Em:t 0003! As you most likely already could guess by now, the answer to the question if this album lives up to its expectations is a full yes! We can't wait for more material to be released from this highly acclaimed cult-label that is finally back in full effect.
